Position Title: Locksmith

 

Job Description:

Provides safe and working doors, closers, handicap openers, gates, and electronic access throughout the campus, and issues and retrieves keys for all key carrying employees and students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Ensure all campus doors, closers, handicap openers, handles, and locks are in good working order.
  • Ensure that locks to secure campus buildings when they are closed are maintained and in good working order.
  • Issue and retrieve all employee and student keys, processing the related paperwork and inputting data as necessary for maintaining inventory.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of key cutting and lock pinning procedures for several brands.
  • Good knowledge of general locksmith practices and procedures.
  • Ability to use basic computer programs and software.
  • Organized thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.

Required Qualifications

  • This position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have one to three years of experience working in a locksmith role.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with electronic key systems

 

Physical Demands

  • Requires the ability to climb, balance, kneel, stoop, and reach.
  • Required to use close vision and be able to focus.
  • Regularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to sit, stand, and bend at the knee and waist, and walk.
  • Must be able to have repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement to type and work on computer.
  • Must have finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination to work on computer, telephone, and related office equipment.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.

FLSA Non-Exempt

 

Additional Demands

  • Overtime and essential demands on time as commonly associated with this position. (evening/weekends/essential personnel)
  • Will generally work indoors.
  • Will occasionally be required to work outdoors and may be exposed to inclement weather conditions and extreme temperatures.
  • Exposed to the intense noise of equipment, machinery, and tools.
  • Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, fumes, odors, dust, gases, poor ventilation, oils, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and working at height.
  • May, on rare occasions, be exposed to hazardous driving conditions.

 

Hours of Work

M-F 7:00 am-3:30 pm
