Lecturer in Foundations

Tenure Status: Non-Tenure Track

Minimum Qualifications

  • MFA in Fine Arts, Sculpture, or related field
  • Minimum 2-3 years of teaching experience at college level



Areas of Interest (No Minimum Level Required)

  • Demonstrated professional artistic practice
  • Strong technical knowledge across multiple mediums
  • Excellent communication and demonstration skills
  • Established exhibition record


Woodworking

  • Proficient with planer, joiner, table saw, panel saw, band saw, compound miter saw, belt sander, orbital sander, drill press, router, hand drills
  • Experienced in performing dado cuts and various wood joinery techniques
  • Ability to teach woodshop safety protocols and techniques

Metal Working

  • Proficient with MIG welding, plasma cutter, grinders, vertical and horizontal band saw
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication techniques and safety procedures

Painting and Drawing

  • Proficient in oil painting techniques, acrylic paint, charcoal
  • Experience with various surfaces including canvas and board
  • Strong understanding of surface preparation and color theory

Photography

  • Proficient with manual digital cameras and alternative photo processes
  • Experience in darkroom procedures and photographic printing techniques

Digital Working

  • Proficient with Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Basic Photoshop and Lightroom editing skills
  • Experience with digital video cameras and production workflows

Ceramics

  • Proficient with wheel throwing, hand building, mold making, glazing
  • Experience with reduction and electric kiln firing
  • Knowledge of clay bodies and glaze chemistry

Miscellaneous Skills

  • Proficient with silicone and alginate mold making
  • Sewing capabilities
  • Experience with motion sensors and basic electronic wiring

Description of the Department or Unit


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach four undergraduate courses per semester in person at the Boone campus.
  • Primary teaching responsibilities will be in Foundations, with the possibility of additional courses in specialized courses. Example digital foundations, sculpture, photography, metals and/or general education.



Proposed Date of Hire: 08/01/2025
Suggested Salary Range: Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
