Classification Pay Scale
In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Expected Pay Scale
Minimum: $100,000.00
Maximum $100,000.00

Job Summary

Direct the day-to-day workflow of the Office of Learning Enhancement and Academic Development (LEAD). Responsible for planning and developing academic support service programs for all WesternU students. Deliver programs that promote student well-being and a balanced lifestyle. Reports to the Assistant Vice President of Learning and Development for University Student Affairs.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Individuals must possess the knowledge, as well as the following skills and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills such that he/she is able to interact effectively with administration, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Excellent computer skills enabling employee to set up documents in Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and any other software program required for this position.
  • Skill in designing, implementing and evaluating student academic support services using available technology.
  • Ability to work autonomously and productively. This includes the effective management of time and competing tasks/projects and diverse floating deadlines, in a high paced environment without direct supervision.

 

 
  • Ability to be self-directed and have the ability to effectively and efficiently learn the WesternU culture, as well as gain knowledge about all academic programs. Expected to learn the nuances of the University and the individual colleges, including the curriculum, and translate that knowledge in a meaningful manner during counseling session with students.
  • Knowledge of the skills in carrying out research in learning theory.
  • Knowledge of appropriate legislation related to students of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and American with Disabilities Act.
  • Embody a commitment to Humanism.


Required Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree in education, the health sciences, or psychology.

Experience or Training
  • Five or more years’ experience in Student Advising Support Services at the University level.

 

 
  • Experienced in working in an academic environment with students under performance pressure. This includes a proven background of addressing and handling student-related crisis and/or stress management, including the knowledge of available techniques or resources to assist students in developing mindfulness, well-being, and coping strategies.
 
  • Experience with strong presentation and facilitation skills. This includes a solid background in public speaking, group and/or workshop facilitation and audience engagement/interaction. It is expected that the candidate can take a topic and execute it from concept into implementation in the form of a creative, engaging, and interactive presentation, workshop, seminar, or lecture.
 
  • Experience in using data to assess and improve student outcomes.
 
  • Experience supervising and managing employees
