POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Academic Affairs; Student Affairs; Dean of the College of Chiropractic, Dean of the College of Health Sciences; Dean of Students; Registrar, and any other position(s) assigned by the President.
SUMMARY: Reporting to the President, the Provost is the Chief Academic Officer of the University and provides leadership to all academic and student affairs staff, ensuring their work reflects the mission of the institution. The provost is an advocate for all academic programs, providing leadership to faculty and academic staff to ensure consistent quality standards in curriculum and programs that meet the needs of students. The provost oversees the academic integrity of the university and provides leadership in long-range planning, budgeting, curriculum, and program development. The provost ensures compliance with various accreditation agencies as well as state accreditation and regulation. The provost serves as Chief Executive Officer for the University in the absence of the President.

QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a first professional/doctoral degree and extensive experience in higher education and academic leadership with a clear focused commitment to teaching, learning, and academic excellence to promote student success. The ideal candidate will have prior experience integrating academic and student affairs strategic objectives, having demonstrated outcomes resulting from that synergy. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader who inspires staff, students, and the community and possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills and good judgment; the ability to formulate and articulate sound policies and the demonstrated ability to identify, resolve, and consult on a wide-range of administrative and human resource issues with a clear sense of institutional needs and priorities; a strong understanding of current issues and future directions in higher education; and strong organizational and management skills.
As a member of the Cabinet, the provost is required to be highly ethical, trustworthy, credible, loyal and respectful of diverse views and opinions. The provost should be collegial, approachable, and accessible and able to delegate responsibility and authority while maintaining accountability.
