Job Summary:

The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities is currently seeking an Assistant Director to play a pivotal role in upholding Eastern Washington University’s commitment to student accountability, education, and growth. This position combines case management, supervision, assessment, and educational outreach to support a safe and inclusive campus environment.

Reporting to the Director of Student Rights and Responsibilities, the Assistant Director will play a critical role in managing and supporting the university’s educational and developmentally based student conduct system.

The Assistant Director will serve as a hearing officer for conduct cases and provide comprehensive case adjudication, including overseeing the Student Disciplinary Council (SDC) for cases involving potential suspension or expulsion. This role involves recruiting, training, and supervising student conduct board members while ensuring compliance with university policies and the EWU Student Conduct Code.

This position will also supervise a graduate assistant supporting the Conflict Resolution Program, fostering their professional growth and guiding program initiatives such as mediation, restorative practices, and educational workshops.

In collaboration with the Director, the Assistant Director will develop and assess learning outcomes for conduct interventions and programs, using assessment data to guide strategic planning and program improvement. The Assistant Director will lead communication and outreach efforts by creating educational materials, promoting conflict resolution resources, and conducting proactive education with students, faculty, staff, and families.

As a liaison with internal stakeholders, the Assistant Director will work to maintain campus standards and expectations, addressing issues affecting the campus community while promoting accountability, equity, and student success. This position is ideal for a dynamic professional dedicated to fostering a safe, inclusive, and educational campus environment.

The salary for this position is $62,000. In addition to salary, the university offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, life and disability insurance and retirement. Required Qualifications:

· Bachelors in field related to student development, education, counseling, law, or conflict transformation
· 1-2 years of related experience in Residence Life, Student Conduct, or related Student Affairs position
· Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Office suite, including Teams, and web-based applications.
· Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations and in developing inclusive communities and work teams.
· Demonstrated experience creating and delivering trainings, workshops and presentations.
· Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in field related to student development, education, counseling law, or conflict transformation
· 2 years’ experience in Student Conduct Administration
· Experience using the Maxient conduct database system
· Demonstrated ability to mentor others and build effective teams.
· Demonstrated supervision experience.
· Knowledge of student life philosophy and higher education law preferred
· Experience in student organizational conduct or advising

This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value, as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.

All new employees must comply with EWU Immunization Policy 602-02 and provide proof of immunity or vaccination to MMR before beginning work at EWU. Waivers for the immunization requirements are available for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs.
