The Director, Public Safety / Chief of Police supervises and coordinates the activities of public safety/college police personnel on an assigned shift including scheduling work, evaluating performance, interpreting regulations and directives, investigating incidents, maintaining records, and preparing related reports. This position performs a variety of duties in the carrying out of law enforcement, security, and safety operations involved with the protection of life and property, prevention of crime, and rendering of services. Reports to the Vice President, Administrative Services and General Counsel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Law Enforcement or related field, and five years supervisory work experience in the field of law enforcement as a state-accredited sworn law enforcement officer are required. Must be a currently certified Law Enforcement Officer under standards promulgated by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission, or be currently certified under standards promulgated by another state and become accredited in Florida within twelve (12) months of hiring. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.
ANNUAL SALARY RANGE: $63,000-$80,000
