The Sullivan School of Business and Technology at Carroll University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant or associate professor chair position. This position is part of the strategic expansion of the Sullivan School and will be the first-ever chair of the Department of Engineering. The two programs in the department, Mechanical Engineering and Industrial and Systems Engineering, will deliver innovative, market-driven undergraduate curriculum that will complement other degree programs in the university.
Responsibilities: This is a tenure-track instructional chair position. The Chair of Mechanical and Industrial & Systems Engineering will contribute expertise to course and curriculum development for both the Mechanical Engineering and Industrial & Systems Engineering programs and will teach undergraduate courses in their area of specialization.
The anticipated teaching load is two to three 4-credit courses each semester over the 12-month appointment.
Preference will be given to candidates with strong communication skills and experience in ABET accreditation, administrative oversight, and faculty and people management.
All Carroll University faculty are expected to participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching effectiveness, to maintain currency in the discipline, and to grow as a leader. In addition, this position will be involved in service to the school and university through representation and meaningful participation on committees, student recruitment activities, assessment programs, and student advising.
Qualifications:
- Applicants with a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial or Systems Engineering, or a closely related field preferred. Candidates with specialties in all areas of Mechanical Engineering are encouraged to apply.
- Experienced as teachers, subject matter experts, and professionals within their career fields. Industry experience preferred.
- Experience in curriculum development and course design, including online and hybrid course delivery methods.
Rank and Salary: This position is a full-time 12-month, tenure-track instructional faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. Candidates who have earned advanced rank at another institution will be considered for comparable appointment. Opportunities for summer teaching and project work are available, but not guaranteed. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
