Job Purpose: This position is to administer and supervise security and safety operations of assigned Campus (if assigned to Allegheny Campus, this includes the Office of College Services) to safeguard students, faculty, staff, and College assets and facilities.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: 1. A bachelor's degree.2. Associate degree (or equivalent 60 credits)
Experience: 1. A minimum of seven years law enforcement experience including 3 years of administrative and supervisory experience.2. A minimum of nine years law enforcement experience including 3 years of administrative and supervisory experience. Required Licensure, certification, registration or other requirements: Must have a current and valid driver's license. Must have successfully completed a basic police training course in conformity with current law (Pa. Act 120), and commit to the taking and passing of a certification examination administered by the Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission (MPOETC): must be licensed to carry a firearm or obtain such license within 90 days of hire; must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening (annual thereafter), and psychological test. CPR/AED OSHA 10-30 certification preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Train, supervise and schedule all security personnel at assigned campus. 2. Administer the security contract and other related contracts. 3. Maintain and report appropriate security and safety statistics in compliance with the federal Jeanne Clery Act, the Campus Crime Prevention Act, The Pennsylvania College and University Security Information Act and any other required reports.4. Enforce the Student Code of Conduct in collaboration with the Dean of Student Development, 5. Carry, maintain and qualify with a concealed firearm in a manner specified by the college.6. Control traffic and parking; issue warnings as needed and maintain appropriate documentation. 7. Ensure campus compliance with college policies and procedures related to security, safety, and emergency management 8. Establish and maintain partnerships with appropriate local, state and federal law enforcement / safety officials. 9. Conduct quarterly fire and other emergency drills and security and safety audits10. Coordinate with the Campus Facilities Director the campus classroom, office, parking and facility key and card access systems. Maintain an active database of key and access card holders and apply appropriate security measures for issuance and return.11. Document and report campus incidents. Lead internal investigations and/or coordinate investigations with appropriate internal departments and outside agencies. 12. Administer the college card access system for faculty and staff.13. Each campus director shall also have the functional responsibility to administer and control at least one designated campus security function.14. Chair and train the campus crisis management team and assume a leadership role during any critical incident management. Chair the campus Safety Committee and participate in college wide committees as necessary and required. 15. Complete assigned training and remain active in the National Incident Command Systems (NIMS) 16. Assist in the preparation and management of the Capital and Operating Budgets related to and for the office of safety and security. 17. Report, document and follow-up along with the college Risk Manager on all insurance (accident, theft) related claims for Campus personnel, students and visitors. 18. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Must be available 24/7 to the assigned location or in response to an emergency as needed at any other location. Assigned location is subject to change at the discretion of the College. Flexible Hours and locations may include evenings, weekends, holidays and reassignment subject to the needs of the College.
Clearances: Current criminal record/child abuse clearances will be required if offered the position and in order to be employed at the College. The three clearances are Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check, and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Check. In 1963, Pennsylvania passed the Community College Act, providing the legal framework for the establishment of community colleges in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Allegheny County Board of School Directors voted to ask Allegheny County to be the local sponsor, and a plan was submitted to the state. In May 1965, the "People's Bond Issue," requesting Allegheny County residents to approve funding for a community college, passed with 66% of the vote. Six months later, the Pennsylvania State Board of Education unanimously approved Allegheny County's application for the founding of a community college.
In December 1965, the first 15-member college board of trustees was sworn into office. The college's first president was named; the first two college locations, CCAC-Boyce Campus in Monroeville and CCAC-Allegheny Campus on Pittsburgh's North Shore, were chosen; and vice presidents were hired for those campuses. In September 1966, classes began at the new Community College of Allegheny County with 59 full- and 16 part-time faculty members serving 1,505 students.
CCAC-South Campus was established in 1967, followed by CCAC-North Campus in 1972. There are three neighborhood centers: Braddock Hills, Homewood-Brushton and West Hills Center in Oakdale. The college also maintains an ever-growing online learning presence.
Today, CCAC offers more than 130 programs of study across ten diverse career paths. CCAC's quality programs have enabled students to transfer credits to more than 500 different colleges and universities to continue their education. The college supports regional workforce needs with accessible instruction available day, evening, weekend and online in Allegheny County and beyond. Courses are taught using different modalities, including in-person (face-to-face), online, remote (via Zoom) and hybrid, with with a focus on enabling students to enter or reenter the workforce in two years or less.
