Job Description

The Emerging Media & Digital Arts Faculty position is a full-time, 9-month faculty position in the Arts & Design Department. ACC Faculty teach 15 credits each fall and spring semester. Faculty may have the option to teach courses during the summer semester for additional compensation. Courses may be taught using both traditional and non-traditional delivery methods, including face-to-face, online, computer-aided, distance learning, self-paced, and interdisciplinary. Faculty may need to teach at any ACC campus and at various times (days, evenings, and some weekends). This position also oversees the HIVE MakerSpace where staff, students, and instructors come together to explore art, design, manufacturing and bring creativity to life.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field and/or CTE Credential to teach. Tested experience may be used in lieu of the degree requirement on a case-by-case basis.
  • Experience teaching and/or training various relevant fields such as digital design, digital fabrication, 3D modeling, 3D animation, visual effects, virtual media, video production, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated commitment working with and supporting students from diverse populations, which may include but are not limited to, historically marginalized communities such as people of color, LGBTQ community members, veterans, first generations graduates, and people with disabilities.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset regarding professional development.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a form that is appropriate for the needs of the audience. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite


Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant professional experience with digital design with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in areas such as digital 3D animation and modeling, interactive and virtual media, visual effects, video editing and production.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software tools and technologies used in digital 3D and 4D design such as Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, Autodesk Maya, Toon Boom, Blender, ZBrush, Final Cut Pro, and/or Cinema 4D.
  • Ability to oversee the administrative operation of the HIVE MakerSpace digital fabrication studio including, but not limited to, supervision of staff, budget management, and coordinating schedules.
  • Experience in facilitating equitable outcomes for customers, key stakeholders, or students using effective inclusive strategies. 
  • Demonstrate building successful professional relationships and working collaboratively with internal and external constituents and outside agencies.
  •  Participate and/or lead in professional organizations, committees and/or taskforces. 
  • Experience with remote and/or online teaching/training and experience developing courses for multiple delivery formats. 
  • Ability to develop well-defined assessment/evaluation objectives and high-performance standards aligned with expectations
