Adjunct Faculty, Neuroscience (Fall 2025)
Position Available: August 25, 2025
FLSA Status: Exempt (salary)
Job Status: Part-time Faculty (non-tenure track)
 
Position Summary:
Dominican University is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach one or two sections of Introduction to Neuroscience in the fall of 2025 "in person." There is the possibility of continuing for spring and beyond.  Course times can be scheduled (T/Th or MWF) at your convenience during daytime hours. A complete set of materials (exams, quizzes, assignments, activities, and slides) is available (but optional). Enrollment is 30 students in a section. In addition to those with PhDs in neuroscience, we welcome applications from advanced graduate students with an interest in teaching and will provide active mentoring for those new to being an instructor of record. 
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Candidates should be advanced graduate students or PhDs in neuroscience, biology, psychology, or a related field that confers sufficient expertise to teach an overview of neuroscience at the introductory level. 
Responsibilities:
Adjunct faculty are responsible for the following:
  • Adhering to the university policies, procedures, and university calendar with respect to reporting information to university offices.
  • Administering student evaluation and timely and accurately submit the required paperwork related to instruction, including grades and course evaluations.
  • Grading weekly assignments, responding to student emails and phone calls promptly, and providing feedback in a timely manner.
  • Preparing course materials, including writing test questions and delivering assignments appropriate to the subject matter.
  • Meeting with students and hosting office hours.
  • Adhering to the goals and objectives of the course, as guided by the Department Chair.
