Career Readiness Instructor (PT)

In support of SUNY Orange's workforce development strategy, the Workforce Solutions unit will support the creation of opportunities focused on providing high-impact solutions to local employers including strengthening their employee's skills and competencies through customized workforce development training and services.

We currently have an urgent specific need for a Part-Time Career Readiness Instructor.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-Time Career Readiness Instructor to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in workforce development, a passion for teaching, and the ability to inspire and guide students toward achieving their career goals. As a Part-Time Career Readiness Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in key areas such as resume writing, interview techniques, job search strategies, professional communication, and workplace readiness. You will assess student progress, provide personalized support, and foster a positive, engaging learning environment that prepares students to successfully enter and thrive in the workforce.

The Career Readiness Instructor must have the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by the program schedule as well as travel between our Newburgh and Middletown Campuses and other locations as needed.

Job Requirements:
Education Required: Associate's Degree in Education, Human Services, or related field

Experience Required: Minimum of two years experience in teaching, coaching, or counseling students in career readiness, workforce development, or related areas. Minimum of one year experience working with diverse populations, including adult learners and individuals facing barriers to education and employment.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

  • Strong knowledge of career readiness topics, including resume writing, job search techniques, interviewing skills, workplace behavior, and financial literacy.
  • Ability to design and deliver interactive, engaging curriculum tailored to adult learners.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to present complex information in an easily understandable manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency with office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with online learning platforms is preferred.

Salary: $30 per hour for no more than 29 hours per week
