Job Description

 

Friends University seeks a dedicated leader for the Co-Chair of the Division of Marriage and Family Therapy and Program Director of the Wichita Master of Science in Family Therapy (MSFT) program. This is a 12-month tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.

The Wichita MSFT program, established in 1986, enrolls 34+ students in a 60-credit hour, 24-month cohort model. Accredited by COAMFTE, the program emphasizes outcome-based education, professional mentorship, and holistic student development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Wichita MSFT program, ensuring compliance with COAMFTE accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with the Kansas City Program Director to maintain seamless operations and develop strategic plans.
  • Teach courses such as Social and Cultural Diversity in Human Development and Contemporary Issues with Families, based on program needs and expertise.
  • Mentor students and contribute to a supportive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Advance the MFT profession through scholarship, service, and program development.
  • Experience mentoring and coaching staff and faculty clinicians.

This role includes a 50% faculty load release for administrative responsibilities, such as overseeing accreditation, assessment, and program operations.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • A Doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (or related field) from COAMFTE accredited program.
  • Licensure (or eligibility) as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Kansas.
  • AAMFT Approved Supervisor or Supervisor Candidate status.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong clinical skills, leadership experience, and a commitment to integrating Friends University’s Christian mission and values into teaching and program development.
  • 3-5 years of teaching experience, demonstrated administrative leadership, and preferably in an AAMFT/COAMFTE-accredited program.

Rank and salary are commensurate with education and experience.
