The Department of Visual Arts at Ashoka University invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor in Art History or Visual Culture with an expected start date of August 2025 or January 2026.
Successful candidates would be expected to teach departmental core courses and electives, and advise undergraduate students. The teaching load is generally 2-2, with provision for paid research leave. Ashoka offers attractive terms of remuneration and conditions of work.

Successful candidates for the position will have outstanding research profiles, experience teaching undergraduates, and enthusiasm for building a Visual Arts programme in a liberal arts institution in India. Candidates should have a PhD in History of Art, Visual and Cultural Anthropology, Visual Culture, or an allied discipline by the beginning of the appointment.
