The Department of Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of lung transplantation. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. They must also be certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery or foreign equivalent or eligible for such certification.

Teaching responsibilities may include instruction of medical students and surgical residents.

Clinical responsibilities may include providing leadership to the lung transplantation program, as well as in- and out-patient care of patients undergoing lung transplantation. At least 50% of the clinical responsibility will be in lung transplantation, with other duties including routine thoracic surgery.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include clinical and / or basic science research on topics in the field of lung transplantation.

The successful candidate will be a member of Penn's Division of Thoracic Surgery and will practice primarily at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. They may also participate in clinical activity at other Penn Medicine hospitals. They will be instrumental in the expansion of one of the oldest and busiest lung transplant programs in the country, partnering with a highly accomplished group of transplant and advanced lung disease pulmonologists.
