Classification Pay Scale
In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of the University Library, provides high level support to library leadership and the overall functioning and success of the Pumerantz Library. This position provides confidential administrative support including but not limited to planning, scheduling, and executing leadership meetings and library and university-wide events; handles requests for statistics; creates reports; and manages the calendar and correspondence for the Library Director. In collaboration with library staff, creates and manages library employee appreciation activities.
 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Individuals must possess the knowledge, as well as the following skills and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Good computer skills necessary to set up document formats in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and any other software programs required by the position. This includes the ability to transcribe from hand-written notes, verbal instructions or dictation equipment. Shorthand or speed- writing helpful.
  • Ability to communicate with others both orally and in writing. Must be able to effectively interact with administration, faculty, staff, and outside contacts.
  • Good listening skills to understand internal and external customer requests and issues. Must also be able to address or refer to the appropriate person or department.
  • Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills and demonstrate sound judgement in handling confidential matters.
  • Ability to provide effective team leadership and promote an inclusive and positive team environment.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload in order to meet necessary deadlines, and handle detail-oriented assignments with accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive personnel and administrative matters, and to use tact and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive personnel or budget matters.
  • Flexibility in job assignments required.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field from an accredited institution required; any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.


Preferred Qualifications

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in library and information science or related field.
  • 3-4 years increasingly responsible administrative/office experience for an executive officer.
  • Knowledge in basic accounting procedures preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in use of spreadsheets preferred.
