Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management

Tenure Status: Tenure Track

Minimum Qualifications
A successful candidate for the Associate Professor position has
attained tenure at the associate or full professor level and has earned
a Ph.D. in Supply Chain Management or a closely related field from an
AACSB accredited institution.

Areas of Interest (No Minimum Level Required)
The department is especially interested in candidates with one or more of the following:

  • Teaching and research interests in one or more of the following areas - strategic procurement and global sourcing, global logistics and supply chain management, and production and operations management.
  • Has direct knowledge and experience in the areas of sustainability, technology, and analytics within the field of supply chain management
  • Candidates with 15+ years of corporate experience in the area of supply chain management (e.g., procurement, sourcing, transportation / global supply chain logistics, and / or operations management).
  • A history of service within higher education working with professional student organizations / clubs and building relationships with industry partners.
  • Has a direct experience developing curriculum for academic programs within higher education.
  • Has a direct leadership experience managing and / or directing academic programs within higher education

Description of the Department or Unit
Marketing & Supply Chain Management is one of the largest departments (in terms of undergraduate degree seeking students) of six departments within the John A. Walker College of Business. The approximately 225 declared Supply Chain majors who complete the required coursework in Supply Chain Management receive a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree.

Business students can earn minors in Supply Chain Management, Professional Selling, and Digital Marketing. Graduate level courses are offered in the MBA and MS in Applied Data Analytics programs.

The Marketing & Supply Chain Management Department consists of 16 tenured/ tenure track and 11 non-tenure track faculty members. The Walker College of Business is one of the largest public business schools for undergraduate students in the University of North Carolina system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional duties may include curriculum development,
online, and fully residential instruction, as well as teaching in
the MBA and MS in Applied Data Analytics programs.

The teaching load is 3 class sections per semester (usually with
no more than 2 preps). Faculty members will be expected to fulfill both research andservice requirements as well.
