Job Description

Position Title: Athletic Trainer
Department: Athletics
Reports To: Director of Intercollegiate Athletics
Location: On-site (River Forest Campus)
 
 
POSITION SUMMARY: 
The Athletic Trainer is a full-time, 11-month position in the Department of Athletics, reporting to the Director of Athletics and Assistant Director of Athletics. The day-to-day components of the position range from providing the care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for all student-athletes to scheduling coverage for scheduled practices, home contests, and selected away contests to overseeing, creating, and tracking all student-athlete medical forms and insurance. The Athletic Trainer is sensitive to the needs of a diverse student body and is committed to assisting the Department of Athletics in enhancing and supporting the student-athlete experience consistent with the mission of Dominican University.
 
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • The Athletic Trainer handles responsibilities pertaining to student-athlete health and wellness.
  • The Athletic Trainer assists in managing the athletic training operating budget and helps supervise and schedule part-time assistant athletic trainers (s) and student-workers.
  • All job components shall be completed with attention to university, conference, and NCAA compliance, rules, and regulations.
  • Other duties as required and/or assigned by supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Bachelor's degree
  • NATA certification and Illinois state licensure (or eligibility to apply for license)
  • A commitment to adhering to all university, conference, and NCAA policies and regulations
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Master's degree preferred.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to spend long durations of the workday standing, walking, and demonstrating athletic activities.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends
Salary and FLSA Status
  • Salary: $51,000 - $54,000 annually
  • FLSA Status: Exempt, 37.5 hours
