Position Description

Simulation Lab Assistant, Clinical Performance Lab (CPL)
Under the supervision of the Director of Simulation Education, the Simulation Lab Administrative Coordinator provides vital front desk support and administrative services to maintain the efficient operation of the lab. This role ensures a welcoming, organized, and safe environment for all visitors, faculty, students, and staff. Additionally, the Simulation Lab Administrative Coordinator supports onboarding of new Standardized Patients (SPs), coordinates scheduling, assists with facilities and maintenance requests, and provides troubleshooting for minor technical issues.
7:30-4:00, in-person with possibility of occasional WFH days by prearrangement.


Essential Functions (75%)

  • Reception & Front Desk Support: Serve as the primary point of contact at the front desk, screening visitors and maintaining the safety and security of the 20,000 sq. ft. facility.
  • Visitor and Faculty Coordination: Greet visitors, respond to general inquiries, direct individuals to appropriate classrooms, and manage the general CPL email inbox.
  • Space and Scheduling Support: Schedule lab classes under the direction of the Operations Coordinator, coordinate meetings between CPL team and faculty, post daily lab schedules, and communicate schedule changes.
  • Technology & Equipment Support: Assist students and faculty with audiovisual equipment, computers, and other learning technologies under the oversight of the Simulation Technology Specialist. Report tech/computer issues to appropriate staff.
  • Onboarding & Faculty Support: Facilitate onboarding of new Standardized Patients (SPs), receive and dispatch faculty emails, and assist in the preparation of documents and reports.
  • Facilities Management: Submit facility, maintenance, HVAC, and elevator service requests as needed.
    Lab Setup & Clean-Up: Assist with setting up and cleaning the lab when work-study lab technicians are unavailable.


Marginal Functions (25%)

  • Tours: Lead tours when necessary.
  • Resource Pantry & Donations: Coordinate donations for the student resource pantry as needed.
  • Backup Support: Serve as a backup for simulation technicians in weekday hours or other lab personnel as able
  • SP Program-Building: Ability to collaborate with the Theater Department and community outreach to foster the SP program.



Qualifications

  • Associate Degree or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of administrative assistant or simulation coordination experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Strong multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to learn the basic operation of simulators.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and assist in moving lab equipment.
  • Effective communication skills, both in-person and via telephone.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in technology troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with diverse groups and maintaining professional composure under stressful situations.
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends, support setup guide reviews, and assist faculty with ongoing needs in simulation setups.

Compensation at a Glance

Salary Range: $53,000

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.
