Otterbein University is seeking applicants for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor of Spanish & Latin American Studies. We seek candidates with a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching and research, as well as to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, who will contribute to the department's efforts to enhance diversity and provide an inclusive learning environment for all.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach a 3-4 load (a total of 21 workload hours for the academic year) including Spanish language courses, upper-division Spanish & Latin American Studies (SLAS) content courses corresponding to candidate's areas of expertise and interest, and general education courses for Otterbein's Integrative Studies Program focused on Spain and/or Latin America, depending on their regional specialization. The faculty member in this position oversees Otterbein's Spanish & Latin American Studies (SLAS) major and minor and coordinates language placement. Interested candidates may also develop courses to contribute to Otterbein's First Year Experience and Senior Year Experience programs, and lead study abroad and travel courses.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in Spanish, Latin American Studies, or a related Humanities or Social Science field required by start date. Candidates must have Spanish fluency; a demonstrated ability to teach Spanish language; an active research agenda in Spanish & Latin American Studies; excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring; and a willingness to contribute to university life.

COMPENSATION: For the rank of Assistant Professor - $61,000 (plus full University benefits).
