Responsibilities: The successful candidate will assist in developing applied and vibrant undergraduate curricula, in partnership with Business, Health Sciences, and other program areas, along with exploring certification and other opportunities to serve emerging educational needs. The candidate will be expected to teach computer science and information technology courses that support a number of programs on campus.
A willingness to support the mission of the University, familiarity with current trends in computer science and computer science education, continued scholarly pursuit, as well as the ability to use instructional technology to enhance student learning are expected. The ideal candidate would be someone that could bring vision and direction to the program in terms of the curriculum development and collaboration with academic areas across the campus. Other opportunities and responsibilities will depend on experience.
Qualifications: Candidates should have a Ph.D. or Master's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology with all areas of expertise considered. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience. Rank will be determined by experience and credentials.
Rank and Salary: Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications. IF (the candidate has a Ph.D.) then the candidate is expected to teach 12 credit hours per semester and engage in scholarship and service to the university. IF (the candidate has a Master's degree) then the candidate is expected to teach 16 credit hours per semester.
The Program: The Computer Science and Information Technology programs are housed within the Department of Computational and Physical Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences. These programs offer bachelor's degrees in Computer Science and Information Technology.
The College: The College of Arts and Sciences offers undergraduate and graduate programs through seven departments - Communication and Sociology; Computational and Physical Sciences (chemistry and biochemistry, computational science, computer science, information technology, mathematics, physics, software engineering, aviation science); Education; English, Modern Languages and Literature; History, Political Sciences and Religious Studies; Life Sciences (animal behavior, biology, environmental science, psychology); and Visual and Performing Arts. The College has academic administrative and support personnel.
Carroll University: Founded in 1846, Carroll University is an independent, co-educational comprehensive university grounded in the liberal arts tradition. The Pioneer Core general education curriculum has a strong emphasis on developing intercultural awareness and includes cross-cultural immersion experiences. Carroll University is located in suburban Waukesha, 16 miles west of Milwaukee and 60 miles east of Madison. The University serves approximately 3600 students. The University though intentionally ecumenical and non- sectarian in approach, is related to the Presbyterian Church, USA. Candidates must be willing and able to support and advance the University mission.
