Adjunct Professor: College Writing II (Spring 2025)

Manhattanville University is seeking adjunct instructors to teach College Writing II for the Spring 2025 semester (January 21 – May 14). Please note that if the Spring semester is successful, there will be the possibility of future employment.

Course Description: College Writing II

This course will build on the skills developed in College Writing I. Students will review critical thinking skills and writing skills related to analysis, persuasion, and argumentation, and will also review key concepts of grammar and style. Students will receive continued instruction in analysis and synthesis, as well as in research and documentation. Emphasis will be placed on writing as a process, and the connection between writing and research. Through primary and secondary research, focused revision based on peer and instructor feedback, and development from proposal through multiple drafts, students will produce a long-form, bibliographic essay.

Qualifications:

Education: Applicants should possess a Master's or Doctorate in English, Writing or Composition. Previous experience teaching required.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Salary:

Base rate: $3,375.00 per 3 credit course.

Terminal Degree: Adjunct Faculty members who hold a terminal degree shall be paid an additional $300.00.

Hours Expectation:

Spring Semester 2025 (Jan 21st 2025 – May 9th, 2025h)

Class Schedule: TBD by professor

Format: Courses will be run fully in person in the Spring at Manhattanville University. Manhattanville uses Brightspace as our LMS.

Class Schedule: College Writing II meets twice/week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Times are flexible.

Housing: Housing is not provided.
