The Department of Electrical and Microelectronic Engineering at the Rochester Institute of Technology invites applications from candidates in the areas of nanoelectronics, semiconductor devices, digital integrated electronics, quantum, optoelectronics or integrated photonics. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and/or Microelectronic Engineering or a closely related field. Candidates must have prior teaching experience; a potential for establishing and conducting sponsored research; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to collaborate within and beyond the department; and ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the university's continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism and individual differences.
Faculty responsibilities include teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, conducting sponsored research programs, and providing service to the university community.

Department/College Description
Serving approximately 3500 students, the Kate Gleason College of Engineering offers 7 bachelor, 12 master's and 5 doctoral degree programs in biomedical, chemical, computer, electrical, industrial, mechanical, microelectronic and microsystems engineering. All undergraduate programs are designed to be completed in five years, including one year of cooperative education. The Department of Electrical and Microelectronic Engineering offers preeminent bachelor's and master's level programs in electrical engineering and microelectronic engineering to approximately 500 undergraduate and 120 graduate students. Faculty and staff include 24 tenured/tenure-track faculty members, six lecturers, four support staff, and three academic advisors. In addition to teaching within the department, faculty conduct research and advise doctoral students in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Microsystems Engineering, Imaging Science, Computer and Information Sciences, and Sustainability. Faculty research expertise includes digital and computer systems, robotics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, biomedical devices, communications, controls, integrated devices/circuits, MEMs, electromagnetic fields, semiconductor electronics, photonics/optoelectronics and signal/image/video processing. Researchers have access to exceptional laboratory resources for design and simulation of electronic/photonic circuits and systems, and a state of the art microfabrication clean room facility that supports materials and processes for micro/nano devices. Research expenditures average approximately $4 M annually. Preferred and Required Qualifications

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD. in Electrical, Microelectronic and/or Computer Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Refereed publications in one or more of the following device & circuit areas:
    • nanoelectronics and semiconductors
    • beyond CMOS technologies
    • devices & circuits based on emerging nanoelectronic materials
    • neuromorphic computing and artificial intelligence hardware
    • emerging memory technologies
    • digital integrated electronics
    • quantum electronics or photonics
    • integrated photonics
    • optoelectronics
    • on-chip communication, interconnects and novel chip integration technologies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Prior teaching experience in semiconductors & microelectronics related fields
  • Potential for establishing and conducting sponsored research.
  • Ability to collaborate within and beyond the Department of Electrical & Microelectronic Engineering
  • Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college's continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
