Coordinator for Residence Life: Care and Success

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree earned by start date
One to three years of experience working in college housing or in crisis and case management experience. Two years of GA experience is equivalent to one year full-time.

License/Certification Required
N/A

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in College Student Development, Student Affairs, Higher Education, Counseling, or related field
  • Full-time experience working in college housing
  • Experience working with Maxient and/or StarRez software
  • Crisis and case management experience



Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Coordinator position is a highly visible member of the university community who interacts across divisional lines and works collaboratively with many segments of the university. This is a live-in position, meaning staff members are provided a furnished apartment, meal plan, and upgraded reserved parking space. When available and approved, Coordinators receive departmental support for professional involvement and travel. There are 9 Coordinators on the Residence Life Team, along with 14 Graduate Assistants, 3 Assistant Directors, 3 Administrative Professionals, and the Associate Director.

Student Care and Success
● Work 1:1 with students to coordinate resolution of first and second-time University Housing and Code of Conduct violations.
● Assist with evaluation, investigation, and adjudicate complaints and allegations of violations of the Student Code of Conduct and Housing Standards.
● Maintain the student case management process, including tracking overdue and pending cases and coordinate case-loads follow-up with students and staff.
● Clearly communicate, interpret and enforce department and university policies to staff and students.
● Ensure student staff members are appropriately confronting and documenting behavior issues and concerns, providing training where needed.
● Assist staff with urgent student case needs.
● Serve as a resource or referral for information concerning University life.
● Support assessment activities for the department related to student discipline/wellness; and behavioral trends, as part of broader divisional goals in support of student learning, persistence, and retention
● Produce weekly conduct and care breakdown reports to stakeholders.
● Produce end of term(s) and annual report.
● Provide weekly audit of conduct system to identify any delayed cases
● Create, edit, update, and review on-call, crisis response, and other documents under the direction of the Senior Associate Director of Residence Life.
● Coordinate on-call scheduling for Residence Life Staff
Crisis Management
● Provide leadership to staff and students during crises in the residence hall and in the greater campus community.
● Participate in a rotating weekly on-call system providing emergency assistance to staff and residents.
● Become familiar with and follow institutional and departmental guidelines regarding emergencies.
● Serve in on call rotation for campus of 6,200 students

Residence Education
● Be accessible, visible and present to students in the building and area.
● Provide educational and social activities in order to minimize campus behavioral issues
● Serve on task forces and assist Assistant Directors with collateral assignments.
● Develop collaborative relationships with campus partners.

Administration
● Meet regularly with students related to care and success, conduct follow-up as needed.
● Serve on additional departmental or divisional committees, taskforces, workgroups, or search committees.
● Along with the Residence Life staff team, develop and assist in achieving University Housing department goals.
● Discuss, implement and evaluate policy-making decisions affecting Residence Life.
● Attend staff training and professional development events in University Housing and Student Development.
● Attend and participate in Residence Life staff, All Res Life, and departmental meetings
● Meet weekly with the Assistant Director of Residence Life.
● Develop and complete a professional development plan.
● Post and maintain office hours as required by supervisor.
● Perform administrative tasks as delegated by the Senior Associate Director of Residence Life.
● Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule/Hours:Typically Mon-Fri, (9am-5pm), Night/Weekend commitments fulfill additional 5 hours/week
