Full-time Lecturer and Adviser for Earth and Environmental Sciences
The College of Liberal and Professional Studies (LPS) and the Department of Earth & Environmental Science at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a full-time Lecturer A to teach courses in the undergraduate and professional graduate programs, and to serve as an academic adviser for students in the Masters in Environmental Studies program.
Duties will include teaching five courses per academic year. Three courses will be taught at the undergraduate level serving the department's majors in Earth & Environmental Science (EESC) and Environmental Studies (ENVS) as well as College general education requirements, and may include introductory level courses in Earth System Science, natural hazards and disasters, environmental science, or spatial analysis. Two courses will be taught at the graduate level serving the Masters of Environmental Studies or Master of Science in Applied Geosciences program, and may include courses in the candidate's area of expertise. In addition to these teaching duties, the successful candidate willserve as an academic adviser for assigned Masters of Environmental Studies students, review applications and interview applicants for the MES, and attend recruitment events for the EES professional masters programs as needed.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Earth or Environmental Sciences, and a minimum of 1-2 years of teaching experience. Knowledge and experience of academic advising is preferred.
This is a full-time, 12-month appointment and is renewable on an annual basis for up to two additional years subject to satisfactory performance and approval by the Dean.
