Position:
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is seeking a tenure-track faculty member in Biochemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor only.
The successful candidate will teach: a) biochemistry and related special topics at the undergraduate and graduate levels; and b) introductory and general chemistry at the undergraduate level. This individual's research expertise and planned research program will diversify the Biochemistry research areas currently represented in the Department.
In addition to teaching, the position requires weekly office hours, attending faculty meetings, participation in assessment of student learning, and service to the department, college, and university. The successful candidate will be held to the standards and requirements of the college and department for recommending tenure and promotion. Given CSUN's commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and engagement in a diverse environment, the successful candidate will help the Department achieve equitable academic outcomes for all students through teaching, student mentorship, scholarship, and service.

Applicants must submit to the website in the section above: (1) a cover letter; (2) a current curriculum vitae that lists all peer-reviewed primary research publications (maximum 3 pages); (3) a 3 page (maximum) single-spaced (excluding figures) detailed description of planned research, including a brief description of the funding mechanisms that will be pursued; (4) a 2-page (maximum) statement of teaching philosophy, particularly as it relates to the candidate's ability to work with a diverse student population; (5) a list of equipment and facilities necessary to carry out a successful research program at CSUN and (6) the names of three referees who can objectively address the candidate's qualifications, such as Ph.D. and postdoctoral advisors. Letters from referees will be requested by our system upon submission of the completed application, and will be due directly from the letter writers two weeks after the screening start date or two weeks after the completed application is received (whichever is later).
In later stages of the search process, applicants may be requested to provide additional materials, such as published work samples, class curricula or assessment materials, and work produced through student mentoring.
At time of appointment, the successful candidate, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to work in the United States.
