Detailed Job Description
The Department of Cybersecurity in the Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences at RIT seeks a non-tenure-track Lecturer, beginning August 2025. The successful candidate will be able to teach a broad range of courses in areas of high demand for the department, including cloud computing, identity and authentication, system security, reverse engineering, and intersections between cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.

The College:
The Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences prepares students to improve lives and change the world through computing; GCCIS is home to the departments of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, School of Information, and the School of Interactive Games and Media. The college's PhD program in Computer and Information Sciences is ranked 56th by CSRankings.org. The college has over 140 full‐time faculty, 3,900 undergraduate students, and 1,100 graduate students. The Department:
In 2012, the Department of Cybersecurity was established to address critical security challenges cutting across computing disciplines. The department has 18 full-time faculty and is committed to excellence in teaching and research. The department offers BS and MS degrees in Cybersecurity, with current enrollment of 553 and 77 students, respectively. We also have a Ph.D. program that is administered within GCCIS. We are designated as a National Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense - Research by the Department of Homeland Security and National Security Agency. RIT's cyber defense team is a perennial contender in the Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) and won the national championship in 2013. RIT is also host to the Global Finals of the National Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition (CPTC), and its team won the finals in 2021. The department engages in a wide range of research in topics, including AI & ML for Cybersecurity, Applied Cryptography, Cybersecurity Pedagogy, Privacy, Software Security, Trusted Computing, Usable Security, and Wireless Security.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of a minimum M.S. in a computing related field
  • Ability to teach cybersecurity courses
  • Ability to contribute to curriculum and course development in cybersecurity
  • Strong commitment to undergraduate cybersecurity education
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college's continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
