Job Description

Director of Community Partnerships

The Director will serve as an integral member of the Institutional Advancement Division at D’Youville, serving as the primary initiator of targeted and purposeful community outreach and engagement. This individual will establish relationships with new partners for the fast-paced mobilization of strategic market efforts. For example, the Coordinator may establish contacts at high schools for new program offerings; with corporations to share workforce development opportunities; and with community groups to recruit conferences and events to the campus. The Director will report to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and will work with cross-departmental teams to meet institutional needs.

 Responsibilities

  • Works with the VP for Institutional Advancement and other university leadership to synthesize strategic objectives into operational work plans for community and business outreach that can be executed quickly.
  • Builds and provides reports regularly to the VPIA with tracking mechanisms to measure quantitative results of outreach to achieve programmatic outcomes.
  • Calls, visits, and markets programs, events spaces, and activities to the community including but not limited to school partners, businesses, individuals, associations and groups.
  • Provides oversight to the events management function of the university.
  • Works closely with the Senior Administrative Assistant and IT staff to ensure quality measures are met for institutional events.
  • Ensures events are executed at a high quality and that appropriate staffing are available as necessary for event execution.
  • When necessary, is available in the evening or on a weekend, to be present for critical events and when other hosts are unavailable to supervise event executions.
  • Maintains policies and procedures for the event management function.
  • Builds and oversees a student worker group for event management and community outreach support.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience

  • Experience with community outreach, communicating with stakeholder groups, marketing programs and activities, and customer service support for programs.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and other basic office software tools.
  • Ability to digest, synthesize, and translate new program vision into operational plans and execute those plans effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills critical.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit; ability to work both independently and across teams
  • Bachelor’s Degree in management, communications, hospitality or another transferable field preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience managing programs and program outcomes; working with diverse stakeholder groups; and communicating with the public.
