COORDINATOR / FACILITIES & EVENTS / UNIVERSITY RECREATION

Position Number: S-3451

Position Summary:

This position works collaboratively and communicates with programming, service and facilities areas within the department, the University, and the community to provide opportunities for students, faculty/staff and community members to host activities, events, and programs with University Recreation’s managed indoor/outdoor facilities. This position facilitates the guest experiences for users through effective customer service strategies, planning and coordinating successful events and activities, while users are engaging in activities within the Student Activity Center and other areas of University Recreation.


Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in recreation, sports management, events management or related field.
At least two years of increasingly responsible experience in a recreation, sports or events setting (Graduate Assistant experience included).
Ability to analyze data and communicate the data and impact effectively.
Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, while projecting a positive image.
Demonstrate the ability to maintain positive interpersonal relations with faculty, staff, students, work associates, and facility users.
Strong personnel management and customer service skills, and demonstrate the ability to organize and manage a large student staff.
Knowledge base of recreational sport and events facility operations and programming areas.
Ability to perform the essential functions and requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.


Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to organize and lead student staff members.
Demonstrated a strong working ability of various computer applications.
Demonstrated ability to train student personnel in the area of customer service/relations
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Professional Rescuer’s and First Aid Certification.


Duties & Responsibilities:

Supervises, including hiring, training, coaching, and developing, the University Recreation Building Supervisor and Event Program student staff and other student staff as assigned.
Collaborates and communicates with internal University Recreation teammates, as well as CMU students, faculty/staff and community members to schedule and serve their activities, events, and programs within the Student Activity Center, the Outdoor Sports Complex, the Rose Tennis Courts, and the Disc Golf course.
Creates and ensures the completion of all event invoice processing, as needed.
Provides coordination for various events in University Recreation. Assists with on-site event management at University Recreation events and other campus events.
Assists with the development and application of policies and procedures related to facility operation and programming activities.
Assists with daily facility operations and risk management for all University Recreation facilities.
Completes various reports as necessary.
Evening and weekend hours, as required, with some on-call responsibilities.
Other duties as assigned.
