Job Description

The Systems Administrator manages and maintains all University servers and applications, cloud environments, and identity stores; providing a secure and productive experience for all users of those systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Responsible for configuration, maintenance, and operation of server infrastructure, cloud-based products/services, and identity management products/services. Maintenance and operation include planning and implementation of data protection, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
  • Responsible for configuration, maintenance, and operation of physical and virtual servers, and server operating systems.
  • Installs, maintains, and supports applications, including maintenance and support of client components if required.
  • Responsible for configuration, maintenance, and operation
  • Implements and maintains security standards and policies in server infrastructure, cloud environments, identity stores, servers, and server-managed clients.
  • Coordinates and implements server and system security in collaboration with Information Security Officer.
  • Assists technology support staff, when necessary, in both workload and elevated support.
  • Cross-trains other infrastructure and technology support staff as necessary to provide systems support redundancy.
  • Develops and maintains automation and scripts.
  • Develops documentation of systems, procedures, and policies.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • In-depth knowledge of computer, identity management, and network systems.
  • Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and a professional demeanor.
  • Organized thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize, and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Required Qualifications

This position requires the completion of some college coursework in Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Must have one to three years of experience of providing systems support.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Computer Science or a related field.

Physical Demands

  • Position requires the ability to exert up to 75 pounds of force on rare occasions.
  • Requires the ability to lift, climb, balance, kneel, stoop, and reach.
  • Required to use close vision and be able to focus.
  • Regularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to sit, stand, and bend at the knee and waist, and walk.
  • Must be able to have repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement to type and work on computer.
  • Must have finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination to work on computer, telephone, and related office equipment.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function
