PRIORITY SCREENING DATE: September 24, 2024Open Until Filled All application materials must be received by the Priority Screening Date in order to be considered during the initial screening. Applications received after this date may be considered thereafter at the discretion of the College until the position is filled. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. This position primarily performs its duties on the Kentfield campus, with occasional travel to the Indian Valley Campus in Novato, so if not already residing within the Bay Area, the successful candidate must be willing to relocate.
Position Overview
Under the direction of the Chief of Police or designee, the Police Services Assistant performs general office management duties and provides coordination and direction to the operations of the District Police Department's records and property/evidence management. Participate in performing analysis and reporting to District and outside Law Enforcement agencies. Utilize various law enforcement information systems, processing and keeping records for uniformed personnel, and prepare property/evidence to appropriate recipients (allied agencies, involved parties, district attorney office and school administration, etc.)

The job involves fieldwork requiring frequent walking on uneven terrain, climbing and descending structures to identify problems or hazards. Manual dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate various equipment and devices. Positions in this classification frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb to perform work and inspect work sites. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Employees must possess the ability to interpret data; good memory; visual acuity and comparison of scenarios to draw conclusions; standing and walking for long periods; driving a motor vehicle; manual dexterity; moderate to heavy lifting; work outdoors in varying climates; discretion, confidentiality, tact, sensitivity, respect for others; adaptability and flexibility; pushing and pulling; climbing steps of varying numbers; attention to details; and patience in order to perform the essential functions.

SALARY INFORMATION:
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Salary Range: SEIU 584
Starting Salary Range: $29.20 per hour - $32.19 per hour (Step 1 to 3). Normal entering step is Step 1.

CLASSIFICATION CATEGORY & RETIREMENT PLAN
The Police Services Assistant is a classified position represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), in compliance with all applicable sections of the California Education Code and related statutes.
Employees in classifications represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1021 and are required to comply fully with the SEIU/Marin Community College District (MCCD) Collective Bargaining Agreement. General information regarding rights and responsibilities under the Agreement can be found in the Collective Bargaining Agreements section of our Human Resources site. SEIU employees are also members of the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), to which the member contributes up to 8% of their reportable compensation on a monthly basis.
SELECTION PROCESS

Applicants selected to interview will be contacted to schedule an interview appointment with the screening committee; however, applicants will be notified of their status, either way, following the screening. Full-time Employees:

Vacation Leave - 90 hours of accrual annually, with additional accrual after 3, 10, and 14 years of service
Paid Holidays - 17 paid holidays annually, which includes a paid winter holiday break at the end of December.
Sick Leave - 7.5 hours per month, 90 hours per year
Retirement through CalPERS - MCCD contributes 27.05% of employee's creditable earnings to CalPERS on a monthly basis (2024/2025). Vested after five (5) years. Mandatory employee contribution for 2024/2025 is 7% - 8%, depending on original date of membership and prior membership status.
Life Insurance - $50,000, with the option to purchase additional voluntary life insurance for the Lesser of 5x base annual salary or $500,000
Additional Retirement Savings Plans - Employees are also eligible to participate in a voluntary, tax-advantaged 403(b) or 457(b) retirement savings plan.
