Appointment: Assistant Professor of Public Health (tenure-track), to begin in Fall 2025

Description: The University of Puget Sound seeks applications for an Assistant Professor of Public Health to begin in Fall 2025. The successful candidate will develop and teach courses in a new Master of Public Health (MPH) program. The mission of the University of Puget Sound MPH program is to prepare culturally responsive graduates who promote health equity and community wellness, and work to prevent injury and illness. Our program offers a unique experience in which students can obtain a Master of Public Health degree at a small liberal arts university, which creates a holistic, evidence-based approach to community engagement. Our program's small student-faculty ratio ensures a learning environment in which students, faculty, and staff develop strong bonds, allowing for a personalized educational experience. Rooted in our small faculty to student ratio and our liberal arts values, our faculty employ a wide range of approaches to teaching and mentoring, with a constant focus on student engagement.

Responsibilities: We seek candidates with expertise in quantitative methods, biostatistics, and epidemiology. The successful candidate will teach Introduction to Biostatistics, Advanced Biostatistics, and Fundamentals of Epidemiology regularly. Other teaching responsibilities will vary depending on area of expertise. Priority consideration will be given to candidates with added expertise in One Health, infectious disease, disaster management, and/or outbreak management. Applicants should have the ability to teach the following courses: Biostatistics, Fundamentals of Epidemiology, Foundations of Public Health, and One Health/Environmental Health. The successful candidate will also teach various Special Topic courses as needed. The successful candidate will also engage in advising, research, and professional development in their area of expertise, and contribute to Puget Sound's institutional mission through program and university service. Faculty members in the MPH Program are encouraged to conduct research that engages with the community and provides learning opportunities for students.

Qualifications: PhD in public health, DrPH, or closely related field. ABD considered.

Compensation and Benefits:

Rank: Assistant Professor (tenure-track)

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Faculty salaries at the University of Puget Sound are based on a common salary scale based on experience. Assistant Professor salaries begin at $72,765 annualized for an Assistant Professor with a terminal degree in their field in their first year of full-time postdoctoral teaching through $81,428 annualized based on experience.
