The Department of Computer Science at Southeast Missouri State University invites applications for a One-Year Open Rank Visiting position to start January 1, 2025. This engagement is aimed at enriching our academic community through a diverse array of teaching methodologies and research interests in the fields of Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Computer Information Systems.

Position Details

• Rank: Visiting Professor, Visiting Associate Professor, Visiting Assistant Professor, or Visiting Instructor, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications.
• Duration: The initial appointment is for two semesters (Spring and Fall 2025), with the possibility of extension for an additional semester (Spring 2026) upon a favorable review of the candidate's teaching performance in the first year along with instructional needs of the department and University.
• Teaching Load: The successful candidate will be expected to teach an average of 12-15 credit hours per semester depending on rank. Teaching responsibilities will span across our undergraduate and graduate programs including:
  1. Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
  2. Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity
  3. Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems
  4. Master of Science in Applied Computer Science
  5. Master of Science in Cybersecurity

Teaching modalities will include face-to-face classes, online classes, and blended classes.

Required Qualifications

• Educational requirements differ for the Visiting Instructor position and Visiting Professor, Visiting Associate Professor, or Visiting Assistant Professor.
• For Visiting Professor, Visiting Associate Professor, Visiting Assistant Professor positions, Ph.D. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a closely related discipline at time of appointment (Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government-certified university).
• For Visiting Instructor positions, Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a closely related discipline at time of appointment (Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government-certified university).
• Evidence of potential for high-quality teaching within mentioned programs in face-to-face, online and blended modes
• Evidence of scholarly excellence (applies to Visiting Professor, Visiting Associate Professor, or Visiting Assistant Professor positions only)
• Evidence of effective communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal
• Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within the University community
