The Department of Computer Science at Southeast Missouri State University invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor position. We are seeking innovative scholars who demonstrate interest in contributing to the advancement of our academic and research missions in the dynamic fields of Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Computer Information Systems.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach 12 credit hours per semester across our undergraduate and graduate programs including:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
  • Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems
  • Master of Science in Applied Computer Science
  • Master of Science in Cybersecurity

Teaching modalities will include face-to-face classes, online classes, and blended classes. The successful candidate will actively participate in recruitment and retention of students.

Required Qualifications


  • Ph.D. or ABD (with Ph.D. at time of hire) in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Information Systems, or a closely related discipline (Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government-certified university).
  • Potential for teaching face-to-face, online and blended classes
  • Evidence of potential for scholarly excellence
  • Ability to contribute effectively to undergraduate and graduate teaching in the areas of Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Computer Information Systems
  • Interest in collaborative research that complements and expands existing departmental strengths
  • Evidence of effective communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal
  • Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within the University community

As a public regional university (with a graduate mission), Southeast seeks candidates with a commitment to excellent undergraduate and graduate education and student success within the framework of the teacher-scholar model. Applications of instructional technology and pedagogical research are supported through the Center for Teaching and Learning and the Office of Online Learning. Successful candidates will contribute to the development of innovative curricula and delivery strategies, including traditional, blended, and online formats, and participate in initiatives promoting student success, retention, and degree completion.
