As part of a multi-year expansion to our CPA-accredited clinical program, the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts at the University of Manitoba invites applications for two full-time Probationary (tenure-track) appointments at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The appointment has an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025. Review of applications will begin on October 18, 2024 and will continue until the positions are filled. Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to develop a productive and internationally recognized research program, obtain external funding, teach primarily graduate-level and some undergraduate-level courses, supervise graduate and undergraduate research, supervise clinical practice, and contribute to service. Alternative delivery modes of teaching (e.g. online instruction) may be available. The standard weighting of responsibilities for full-time equivalent faculty members in the Faculty of Arts is 40% research, 40% teaching, and 20% service. The normal teaching load is 12 credit hours or 4 courses per year (with teaching release for new faculty in the first 2 years, and for faculty who are principal investigators on Tri-Agency grants). Practicum supervision is credited at 1.5 credit hours per supervised student.

The Department of Psychology is the largest academic unit in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Manitoba, with 37 faculty members, 11 support staff members, and over 100 graduate students. The clinical program also operates the Psychological Service Centre (see link below) that serves as a training centre for students and provides free psychological services to the Winnipeg community.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Qualifications

Candidates should have completed a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree by the time of appointment from a CPA- or APA- accredited psychology program with an approved internship. The successful candidate will be expected to obtain registration as a Clinical Psychologist in Manitoba. Successful candidates close to completion of their doctoral degree may be appointed to a term position at the rank of Lecturer until successful completion of their degree, at which time they will begin their probationary appointment as an Assistant Professor.

Applicants are expected to have demonstrated excellence in research in any area of clinical psychology, broadly defined, with a track record of peer-reviewed publications, presentations at national and international conferences, and the potential to attract external grant funding. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and clinical supervision. All areas of clinically relevant research will be considered, with priority given to applicants who diversify the existing strengths of our department. Evidence of clinical practice, research and/or teaching with diverse populations is an asset.

For consideration at the Associate rank, the candidate must already hold the position of Associate professor within a clinical psychology or equivalent program.
