Work Schedule, Hours per week: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 40 hours per week

Pay Range: $71,500.00-$94,000.00 and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary: The Compensation Manager works closely with the Vice President and Director of the Human Resources Department. This position is responsible for developing and leading Johnson County Community College's (JCCC) compensation program and initiatives. The Compensation Manager provides strategic input to the development of compensation policies and practices, offers compensation advice and support, and conducts internal and external pay analysis. The role also ensures that JCCC's compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with internal policies and government regulations.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, finances and/or related field.
5+ years of progressively responsible experience in employee compensation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in human resources, business administration, finances and/or related field.
7+ years experience in compensation.
Certified Human Resources Professional Designation (SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, or SHRM-CP).
Experience with Ellucian/Banner HRIS system.
Experience working in a higher education environment.
Supervisory experience

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manages the development, implementation and administration of JCCC's compensation program and initiatives.
  • Partners with the Vice President and Director of the Human Resources Department to develop, implement and maintain compensation practices and procedures that are compliant, ensure equity and are consistent with the College's culture and values.
  • Evaluate JCCC's compensation program to ensure the College is engaging in best practices in compensation management to help execute and/or update the College's compensation strategy.
  • Lead compensation reviews such as updating salary structures, conducting regulatory wage and hour compliance audits, and job description updates.
  • Conducts job evaluations.
  • Manages the participation in salary surveys and monitors salary survey data to ensure the College's compensation objectives are achieved.
  • Manage the job evaluation process to ensure consistent leveling and classification across JCCC.
  • Develops and implements education sessions for managers to ensure an accurate working knowledge of JCCC's, pay practices, compensation policies and regulatory compliance.
  • Works collaboratively with the Finance Department for budgetary purposes and to complete cost impact projections of compensation initiatives.
  • Build collaborative partnerships with other HR functions and the Finance Department to effectively address compensation matters.
  • Participates, completes, and submits responses to compensation salary surveys.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
