The Department of Art, Theatre and Dance at West Texas A&M University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Art & Design position to begin in August 2021. A terminal degree (MFA) in Studio Art, Digital Media, or Graphic Design is required. This position requires the ability to teach across the fields of digital media, including digital art and design, as well as other courses appropriate to the candidate’s expertise and the program’s needs, including studio art foundations, graphic design, digital photography, contemporary practices and/or 4D art.  Adobe Creative Suite certification or mastery is preferred. Appropriate levels of teaching effectiveness, professional creative activity, and service will be necessary for promotion and/or tenure. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Responsibilities: 

  • 3/3 teaching load in a combination of digital art and design courses, based on experience and department need;
  • Assist with undergraduate and graduate student advising;
  • Assist with recruitment of undergraduate and graduate students;
  • Assist with maintenance and oversight of all digital media and design spaces;
  • Fulfill department, college and university service as needed;
  • Regularly pursue creative and intellectual contributions at the state, regional, and national levels.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Necessary Qualifications:

  • A terminal degree (MFA) in Studio Art, Digital Media, or Graphic Design;
  • Demonstrated artistry and teaching success in digital art and design, as well as studio art foundations;
  • A minimum of one to three years of teaching experience in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a digital art generalist with certification or documented mastery of the Adobe Creative Suite;
  • A background in printmaking, graphic design, digital photography, and/or 4D techniques.
