Job Description Summary
This is a research specialist position in the Penn Digital Neuropathology (Irwin Lab) Lab in the department of neurology at the University of Pennsylvania School of medicine. The mission of the lab is to integrate wet lab human brain histopathology techniques with dry lab digital image analysis and informatics to develop tissue-validated biomarkers for neurodegenerative disease.

Job Description

This position requires experience with wet bench histopathology techniques and basic computing skills and database management skills. Research specialist will perform human brain histopathological staining, including preparation of specimens (fixation, embedding, sectioning) and digital image analysis of histopathological images and ex vivo acquired 7T MRI images of brain tissue. Other responsibilities include managing databases of digital images/data, assisting with brain sampling at autopsy and performing basic statistical analyses of data.

Hiring range minimum for this position is $50K.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.

Position is contingent upon continued funding.
