Group Fitness Class Instructor

Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with diverse levels of education and fitness knowledge;
Experience teaching group exercise classes to a wide variety of populations.
Working knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, and training principles;
Knowledge of group fitness teaching strategies and incorporation of music, temp technique, and rhythm;
Choreography and music skills;
Ability to be professional and motivate class participants; and
Ability to colaborate and work well with other staff members
License/Certification Required
Essential Job Functions
Teaches scheduled classes beginning and ending on time, provides adequate warm‐up, exercises, stretching, and cool down;
Instructs participants on effective workout methods; explains proper techniques, demonstrates exercises;
Identifies muscle groups, and teaches appropriate methods to strength specific muscles;
Prepares appropriate equipment, music for participants;
Assists participants, answers questions, and maintains a positive exercise experience for class
participants;
Keeps management informed of participant and facility needs;
Ensures that safety standards are met, and that department and facility policies are adhered to;
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally will work with various types of fitness equipment;
The noise level in the work environment is generally loud within the facility and while performing duties.

Preferred Qualifications
Group Class instructor or acquire within 6 months of accepting the position.
Work Schedule/Hours: Hours and schedule depend on number of classes taught.
