Minimum Qualifications
A completed MFA or PhD in Creative Writing.
ABD candidates will be considered, but mut have degree by date of hire.
Areas of Interest (No Minimum Level Required)
Candidates with demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level, and one book of fiction published with an established literary press are desired.
Primary interest: fiction.
Secondary interests: creative nonfiction, comics and graphic novels, or digital literature.

Description of the Department or Unit
Appalachian State University in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains prepares students to lead purposeful lives as global citizens who understand and engage their responsibilities in creating a sustainable future for all.
The English department is home to multiple undergraduate programs including Creative Writing, Film, English Education, Literary Studies, and Rhetoric and Technical Writing. The department also offers a M.A. program with concentrations in Literary Studies, Rhetoric and Composition, and Teaching Literature and Writing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This position is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position. Teaching load is 3/3, provided faculty produce at least 2 peer-reviewed publications (or equivalent) every 3 years. Service expectations include advising students, participating in committee work, and other related service activities.

Suggested Salary Range: Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
