Job Description

The Police Investigator, under direction, coordinates and conducts criminal investigations and maintains criminal intelligence for the Police Department.

This position may pay more than the salary listed above depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Takes reports and performs preliminary investigations.
  • Enforces criminal laws and violations.
  • Investigates illegal or suspicious activities, persons, and establishments.
  • Prepares timely reports of serious crimes that pose a threat to the University community.
  • Reviews offense reports for criminal activity, pattern, and method of operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience.



Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.



Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:

  • Valid Driver's license. Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Basic Peace Officer License.



Other Requirements:

  • Must successfully pass psychological evaluation, physical examination, and complete background investigation to include but not limited to driving history, criminal background, and credit history.
