Delaware State University invites applications for the position of Resident Director. The Residence Director (RD) is a full time professional staff member of the Department of Housing and Residential Education, within the Division of Student Affairs. The Residence Director is responsible for a housing area of up to 400 students, a Graduate Hall Director or a undergraduate Senior Resident Assistant (SRA), several undergraduate resident assistants (RA) and several student assistants that support the Residence Director. The Residence Director assists and coordinates such tasks as apartment assignments, transfers, verification of apartment condition forms, damage control systems, verification of occupancy, meter readings, coordinate the check in and check out system.
The administrator in this position is also a part of the Residential Education Staff direct reporting line in case of emergency 24 hour/7 days a week (except when on approved leave) in his or her own area of direct responsibility and is a part of an on-call duty rotation for the Department of Housing and Residential Education. For this reason the Residence Director is required to live in his/her assigned residence area, and an apartment with basic amenities is provided. This multifaceted role is most difficult and calls for extreme emotional stability and excellent human relations and administrative skills.
Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred
