Chair, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology The College of Community Health Sciences (CCHS) at The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa seeks an experienced family medicine physician to serve as Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN). Associate or Full Professor, non tenure earning clinical track candidates will be considered. Responsibilities include a senior leadership role in the College and an adjunct appointment with the University of Alabama School of Medicine. As chair of OBGYN, the successful candidate will report directly to the Dean of CCHS and have ultimate oversight of the academic and clinical department, fellowship programs, a Clerkship, supporting ambulatory and hospital patient care programs, and activities in collaboration with the division faculty leadership. Additional responsibilities include fiscal management of OBGYN, faculty recruitment, retention and development, and providing appropriate resources to support and advance the department’s education and research initiatives. OBGYN includes up to 4 OBGYN physician faculty and a core interdisciplinary faculty of 50 others in the specialties of Family and Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Psychology, Surgery, Neurology, Social Work, Education, Library Science, Clinical Pharmacy, Nursing, Nutrition, and Population Health – all dedicated to family medicine residency and fellowship education, the general professional education of medical students in our newly accredited Primary Care Track that features a third-year longitudinal curriculum, and the research and scholarship of primary care and community-based population health.
