Salary Range: $15,176 per semester.

Hours: 40 hours per week, exempt.

Essential Functions

Duties

  1. Teach assigned hours and hold office hours for student conferences.
  2. Teach 1 to 4 courses depending on course availability and enrollment.
  3. May be assigned Special Projects.
  4. Participate in teacher meetings, focused on curiculum, assessment, and program evaluation.
  5. Serve on committees related to CEA Accredittion and other Special Projects.
  6. Assist with placement testing of students at the beginning of the semester and during TOEFL tests.
  7. Test, evaluate, and counsel students regarding performance using program curriculum objectives and appropriate assessment instruments.
  8. Complete administrative paperwork efficiently and promptly.
  9. Maintain student performance and attendance records.
  10. Input grades into Blackboard ASAP.
  11. Counsel students regarding their progress, behavior, and attendance.
  12. Participate in student trips and activities when scheduled.
  13. Attend Departmental meeting to include Global Initiatives meetings, retreats, and any team meetings that require attendance.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

     


Required Qualifications

  • M.A. in TESL
  • Teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: English as a Second Language (ESL), instructional methods, second language acquisition, or other fields related to working with English language learners (e.g. literacy, technology, bilingualism, education policy for language students, content-area instruction, and teacher education).
  • Strong communication skills-ability to effectively communicate with non-native English speakers.
  • Good classroom management skills, including the ability to manage a classroom and create a positive learning environment.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the various needs of students.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in ESL education.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365
  • Ability to work as a team member and adjust to changes in a professional manner.

Working Conditions

This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
