Job Description

Collaborative project between CSU and USDA-ARS. Specifically, position will provide computer software programming support to the National Animal Germplasm Program Center for Genetic Resource Preservation (NCGRP) and its for livestock genomic database development that coincides with the livestock component of ARS’ Animal Genetic Resources Information Network (Animal-GRIN). The position will serve as lead programmer of a team consisting of members located in Canada and Brazil. The team works to maintain and update Animal-GRIN through participate with other team members in the development, verification and validation of software for entering germplasm, phenotypic, georeferences, and genomic data into the database and retrieving data via specific SQL or SQL formulated code to execute predetermined database queries via the internet based portal which includes public access. The programmer will work directly with scientists and other programmers in providing software enhancements for Animal-GRIN. Programmer will cooperate with scientists within CSU and ARS, potential users in the public and private sector, and other non-US livestock programs.
