The University of Puget Sound is hiring a Director of Sponsored Research to join our University Relations Department! The Director of Sponsored Research provides leadership and direction for the development and administration of University of Puget Sound's sponsored research operation. The director will play a pivotal role in supporting the university's mission by overseeing all pre-award activities related to sponsored research. The director will participate in strategic planning and will collaborate within the Division of University Relations and with faculty, staff, and administrators across campus. This position is revenue-generating and reports to the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations.

Please note:

-Positions that work less than .75 FTE (1,560 hours per year) do not qualify for long-term disability or education benefits.
-Positions that work less than .50 FTE (1,040 hours per year) will accrue paid sick leave but are not eligible for additional benefits.
-Temporary positions that work at least .50 FTE (1,040 hours per year) will be eligible for benefits.

To be considered for this role, a candidate must have:

Five years or more of experience in grant writing with at least three years of experience in grant writing for government agencies.
Past success in securing grants from major federal agencies (i.e. NEH, NIH, NSF) in support of institutional initiatives or faculty research.
Knowledge of pre-award grant administration for funders at the federal, state, and local levels.
An ability to respectfully work, communicate, and provide leadership within a diverse campus community.

Compensation and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $90,000 to $100,000. Decisions about starting salaries are made based on the extent and relatedness of the candidate's education and experience and on internal equity and market considerations.
This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
