A Records Management Specialist (Research Associate II Special) position is available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) at Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB), California. The Records Management Specialist shall be responsible for evaluating and organizing digital and paper records, identifying long-term curation needs and requirements, standardizing data sets, uploading CRM and site monitoring reports to the Digital Archaeological Repository (tDAR), and building metadata records for tDAR to ensure effective and efficient long-term curation and management of VAFB Cultural Resource data. The Records Management Specialist will support the VAFB Archaeologist, providing technical expertise related to the management and update of digital records, multiple databases, and all related metadata. The purpose of this position is to provide technical and administrative support to the Cultural Resource Management program at VAFB, which is responsible for maintaining and preserving VAFB archaeological records. The incumbent will examine and correlate large volumes of data, requiring detailed focus for many hours at a time in order to evaluate existing digital records, documents, and reports; correct digital information, as needed; standardize data sets; and prepare records/data for long-term digital curation. The Records Management specialist will also be responsible for building metadata and uploading associated files to tDAR. Additional administrative tasks may include developing templates, protocols, and training modules, as well as assisting with reviewing projects to evaluate potential effects of federal undertakings on historic properties. All products and deliverables will comply with the governing grant’s policies and procedures, and the Records Management Specialist shall be required to maintain confidentiality of all digital records and data. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Anticipated annual salary range is $45,000-$55,000 and is based on qualifications. This is a 12-month Administrative Professional position, continuation of which is dependent on the receipt of future funding. This is a sedentary job, defined as one which involves sitting, with occasional walking and standing to carry out job duties.
