The expected start date for this position is July 1, 2025.

Responsibilities: The Department of Psychology is seeking a tenure-line assistant professor with expertise in sociocultural factors, diverse populations/groups, social perception, and/or social identity to teach undergraduate Introductory Psychology, Thinking and Writing in Psychology, Social Psychology, an introductory course in one's general subarea of Psychology, and a Psychology elective and/or lab course in one or more of the following areas: cultural/cross-cultural psychology; personality psychology, statistics and research methods; gender; equity/social justice issues as they pertain to gender, culture, race, age, and/or other areas of human diversity. Teaching responsibilities also include one or two courses per year related to the faculty member's expertise as part of the university's Knowledge, Identity, and Power (KNOW), Connections, or First-Year Seminar general education requirements.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Psychology (ABD considered). The Department seeks a social psychologist whose methods are grounded in psychological science. The Department seeks disciplinary expertise in sociocultural factors, diverse populations / groups, social perception, and/ or social identity. Strong commitment to liberal arts undergraduate teaching, to mentoring undergraduate research, and to on-going scholarship are also required. The ability to teach at least one interdisciplinary course that could be cross-listed with Gender and Queer Studies, African American Studies, Latino/Latina Studies, or Crime Law & Society, while not mandatory, is highly desired.

Rank: Assistant Professor

Faculty salaries at the University of Puget Sound are based on a common salary scale based on experience. Assistant Professor salaries for 2024-25 begin at $72,765 annualized in their first year of full-time post-doctorate teaching through $81,428 annualized based on experience. ($72,265 to $80,928 for ABD.).
