Job Summary:
This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time, 9-month academic year, Laboratory Technician 1 for the Department of Chemistry within the College of Science at Oregon State University (OSU).
The Laboratory Technician provides support to the Lab Manager, the Laboratory Director, the instructors, and the graduate teaching assistants by assisting with routine duties in the undergraduate chemistry teaching labs. The Laboratory Technician has a responsibility to follow all laboratory safety rules and help to enforce safety rules with the teaching assistants.
The primary mission of the OSU Department of Chemistry is to provide a program of undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral education in chemistry and to conduct research and scholarly activities focused on areas of chemistry important to biology, materials and the environment. The department offers B.A., B. S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemistry. The Department has 26 faculty members, 75 graduate students, and approximately 185 majors. Approximately 2000 students are enrolled in the General Chemistry program each year.

What You Will Need
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
