The University of Alabama (UA) seeks an innovative, future-oriented, and facilitative leader with a high scholarly profile to serve as the next dean of the School of Social Work. The next dean will lead the School on community-engaged research initiatives and social justice solutions for Alabama and beyond. Based on a shared vision for the School, the new dean will provide proactive leadership on academic programs, advancement and development, budget, faculty and staff management, planning, and research. The School seeks a high-integrity individual with a commitment to shared governance principles, including accountable leadership, collaborative decision-making, and effective, open and transparent communication. The School values community engagement skills and the ability to build and sustain positive relationships with students and alumni, the business community, state and federal government officials, and additional stakeholder groups to support the goals of the School and University. The successful candidate must possess an earned doctoral degree, with an ideal candidate having at least one degree in social work. The candidate must also possess a record of excellence in research and scholarship that merits appointment as a tenured full professor.
