Job Description

Overview

 A Police Officer Supervisor is the supervisory level of law enforcement at the College. Employees in this classification supervise police officers, and Building Security personnel performing campus policing to ensure the safety and security of the College, its students, employees, guests, buildings and property. This position receives general supervision from the Deputy Director and the Director of Public Safety.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement or related field OR-
  • Two (2) years of permanent rank supervision experience as a Police Sergeant or a higher ranking position (in lieu of Bachelor's degree)
  • Must be currently employed as a Maryland Police Training Commission Certified Police Officer; OR be formerly employed as such with a lapse in service no greater than three years; OR demonstrate ability to obtain certification as described in the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR)
  • Must possess an unrestricted non-commercial driver's license valid in the state of Maryland
  • This position requires a background check
  • This position requires a physical examination
  • This is an essential/ emergency position
  • This position is subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with COMAR
